Nancy Shortall-Cura

Speech Language Pathologist

Nancy is licensed by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association as well as the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists here in Newfoundland. In addition, she holds licenses in the states of Texas, California, and Kansas. Nancy has extensive clinical experience working with both adults and children with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. More recently, she has begun working in the area of teletherapy, providing speech, language and swallowing therapy online to patients in the comfort of their own homes. Nancy spent a number of years living and working in Houston, Texas and South America where she learned to speak Spanish. Not only did she work as a Speech-Language Pathologist in South America, but she also taught English as a second language and accent reduction. In 2016, Nancy relocated back to her hometown of St. John’s where she enjoys spending her free time with her two daughters. She also enjoys reading, hiking and travel.

  • Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Psychology, Memorial University NL  (1990)

  • 25 years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist in acute care, long term care, and school based rehabilitation.

  • Director of Speech Pathology in a long term care facility

  • Director of physical Medicine in an acute long term care hospital
