iBalance Classes

We offer iBalance exercise classes for those with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and balance issues. Using our SoloStep System, the class allows participants to walk and exercise safety and confidently without fear or risk of falling on an overhead track. Our classes are group-based with stations for cardiovascular exercise, strengthening, stretching, balance training, and coordination. Our Kinesiologist Rebekah Leyte and kinesiology students will guide you through stations that will be tailored to your individual needs.

Our iBalance class occurs weekly on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 pm and a second class is also offered through The Parkinson’s Society of Newfoundland! Please reach out for more information on how to join.

GLA:D Program

GLA:D is an 8 week education and exercise-based program for knee and hip osteoarthritis, pain, and stiffness that takes place twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Our GLA:D Program is ongoing and taught by our physiotherapist Tamara Penney.

LSVT BIG and LOUD

LSVT LOUD is an effective speech treatment for people with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions that affect speech. LSVT BIG helps people with Parkinson’s disease learn to use their body more normally to make daily activities more manageable.

Tai Chi Class

Our Tai Chi classes focus on strength, mindfulness, and maintaining balance. Our instructor, Brenda Lye guides participants through slow, guided movements, without pause, for a graceful and relaxing class. Tai Chi takes place on Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00 pm. There is a second Tai Chi class on Saturdays from 2:00-3:00 pm offered through the Parkinson’s Society of Newfoundland.

Intensive Exercise Class for Parkinson’s Disease

Our Intensive Exercise Class done along side the Parkinson’s Society of Newfoundland pushes our participants to break a sweat in a safe and supportive environment. We focus on exercises that are both physically and cognitively challenging for those with parkinson’s disease. This class is designed for participants with early on set Parkinson’s.

Therapeutic Yoga

Therapeutic yoga class is tailored to meet the needs of clients who are coming to the clinic because of concussion, dizziness or balance issues. The class is led by a registered physiotherapist, Hilary Cole, on Fridays at 4:30 pm. The focus of this class is on balancing the nervous system and complementing each individual’s one-on-one therapy sessions.

iDance Class

Our iDance class takes place in a small group where participants are guided through musical movement by our kinesiologist Emma MacDonald. This class is tailored to meet the needs of those with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and balance issues. Using our SoloStep System, the class allows participants to walk and exercise safety and confidently without fear or risk of falling on a 74-foot overhead track.
